MBKS adds another feather to its cap

KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has become one of the 11 local authorities in Malaysia and the only council in Sarawak to receive the Excellence (five stars) level in Naational Security Protection Special Award 2021.

In a statement, MBKS said it was proud and honoured to receive the award as it was a recognition to the city council for displaying the best governance in security protection.

“The star rating programme is an assessment to ensure that government agencies have carried out effective governance and incorporated the security protection culture in organisation.

“MBKS will continue to strengthen and ensure the aspects of security protection are adhered to at all times,” said the statement.

The award was received by acting secretary of MBKS, Puan Zainab Marzali from the chief secretary of Malaysia government Tan Sri Datuk Seri Mohd Zuki Ali.

Mayor of MBKS Datuk Wee Hong Seng took the opportunity to thank the staff and everyone working together and supporting the council in carrying out their duties.

Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, who was presented with the award, said he was proud of the MBKS’s performance throughout the years. He congratulated the council for working hard to manage Kuching City South and raise the name of the council at the national and international levels.

“And with so many things to do in managing a big city during the COVID-19 pandemic, MBKS has always done its best to serve the people in its capacity as a city council,” he added.

He also thanked the mayor, the management, the staff and the residents of Kuching City South for their support and contributions.
