MBKS aims 8,000 to join Kuching Zumba Fiesta today

KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is targeting 8,000 people to participate in its Kuching Zumba Fiesta 2018 at the State Hockey Stadium, Padungan today. To commence at 7.30pm, the registration will be closed today at 3pm. “So far we have 4,600 registered participants and we target 8,000. Registration must be done online at www.kzf2018.eventrunner.com. my to entitle participants for the lucky draw.

“The registration will be closed on August 10 at 3pm. Participation is free of charge,” said the event organising chairman Cr Mohd Taufik Abdul Ghani at a press conference on Wednesday. Those who missed the registration deadline can still join in the fun but will miss out on the lucky draw, he added.

Mohd Taufik said the event is part of the Youth, Culture and Sports programme held by the council to promote a better and healthier lifestyle in the community and it is in line with the Healthy City programme advocated by the council all these years.

Meanwhile, MBKS Mayor Dato James Chan Khay Syn said the council has received strong support and cooperation from KTS Mutual Sendirian Berhad (RM40,000) without which, the 2018 Kuching Zumba Fiesta would not have been possible. He said the fiesta is the fourth edition, and KTS Mutual has supported it for the third year.

Moreover, the mayor added there are 20 lucky draws prizes up for grab – with a Toshiba Pro Theatre set as the grand prize. The Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg will be the guest of honour at the event.

“As the Kuching Festival will be packed that evening, I encourage the participants to use Grab as they will be offering RM5 off,” Chan said. The Kuching Zumba Fiesta night is jointly organised by many of the active local gyms, zumba studios such as Exhilarate Fitness Studio, Shake It! Studio, Angels Fit Squad, Flylab Athletics, Fit’starzs Dance Crew, Queen Fitness Club, Move Fitness Studio, Viva La Vida, Level up Fitness, Grab and Event Runner.
