KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is carrying out an exercise to check  hawker stall licences in its areas and regulate the issue of the licences.

The exercise is affective within a period of one month from March 1 to 29, 2018.

This move was decided during the full meeting of the council led by its Mayor, Dato James Chan Khay Syn  here yesterday.

According to Chan, some of the licences had expired because of old age/illnesses  and that some of the licensees were unable to be present at the stalls in the council’s Market/Hawker Centre.

“As such, those who are renting the licences/stalls from the licensees or approved assistants of the licensees and others, who are operating the stall for a minimum period of one year are requested to come forward to the council for the necessary action in order to have the licences issued to them,” said Chan.

He added the council would not entertain  any requests after the due expiry date and would take actions accordingly.

“You are hereby advised to collect the Hawker Stall Licence Regularisation Exercise Application Form from the Stop Service Counter D at the lobby of the council at Jalan Padungan in Kuching,” said the Mayor.

“The duly filled form is to be submitted to the council before the expiry date,” he added.
