KUCHING: Kuching City South Council (MBKS) conducted checks on standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance by eateries following the lifting of the dine-in ban effective Monday (Sept 20).

MBKS said mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng and councillors, MBKS officers and MBKS Social Distancing Ambassadors (SDAs) went to ICOM Square along Jalan Pending.

“Inspection was done to check that tables and chairs arrangements were properly set to ensure social distancing within the premises.

“During the site inspection, we assisted the coffee shops and eateries to rearrange the tables and chairs so that the operators will be able to keep in view the number of diners entering the premises. This is because they need to be alert with the capacity of the premise allowed for dine-in.

“Besides that, we also checked the fans for ventilation purposes. The operators were advised to make sure the fans are in good condition and switched on at all times,” it said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Wee urged the public and eateries to strictly follow the SOP and be alert to any changes made by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

“With everyone’s cooperation, the coffee shops and eateries will be able to operate as usual since more economic sectors will be opening soon. Our MBKS officers will be going around to check and ensure that these premises follow the SOP.

“The public and operators are reminded that once the arrangement of tables and chairs has been done according to the SOP, do not rearrange it. If there is any query on the arrangement of tables and chairs in the premises, they can refer to the MBKS Public Health and Licensing Division.”

Wee stated that every operator of coffee shops and eateries are reminded to make sure that their workers are fully vaccinated before they are allowed to work.

As for the public, he urged those who are not feeling well to do the self-test for Covid-19 or RTK test before going for further health check-up.
