Mayor Adam Yii in statement said at the initial stage, MCC will enhance the e-Local Government (eLA2) services to improve its service delivery.

With the enhancement of eLA2 application, renewal and payment of Permits and Licences can be done online, Yii said.

Yii also spoke on improving the Call Tracking System (CTS).

He said once upgraded, complaints can be directed to the Contact Centre over various channels including phone, email, mobile apps, messaging apps (WhatsApp, Telegram, etc) and social media.

In addition, MCC will also improve the safety and security of the City Centres and Community Parks, he added.

“Other than the general visual surveillance (SV), Face Recognition (FR) and Vehicle Tracking (VT) are among the latest technologies to be deployed,” he said.

According to him, the Face Recognition surveillance technology will allow law enforcers to identify and track individuals from among the crowd, while the Vehicle Tracking surveillance technology will allow law enforcers to track and recover missing vehicles.

In their effort to improve the information delivery, MCC will implement Digital Signage (DS) to allow prompt, accurate and effective delivery of information through online digital multimedia channels, Yii revealed.

“This initiative involves outdoor LCD screens that will be mounted on the walls or columns of public food stalls, or erected on poles at pedestrian walkways in the city.

“Other initiatives under the Miri Smart City programmes include flood monitoring (smart drain), garbage truck tracking (smart garbage trucks) and bus tracking (smart buses).

“These programmes will be rolled out in stages during the later part of 2020,” Yii said.
