McD to celebrate with the disabled

KUCHING: Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Malaysia will be celebrating persons with disabilities at the Sri Satok Community Based Rehabilitation Centre — Datuk Amar Hajah Juma’ani Welfare Centre here today.

The celebration is in conjunction with the International Day of Disabled Persons, which is observed on December 3 annually.

The chief minister’s wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang is expected to officiate at the event.

The programme is one of over 10,000 welfare activities carried out annually under Community@McD and RMHC.

RMHC Malaysia general manager Mohd Nasri Mohd Nordin revealed that recently RMHC Malaysia via Community@McD and RMHC had distributed over 30,000 ‘Back-to-School Packs’ throughout the country, including in Sarawak.

Established in February 1990 as a non-profit organisation, RMHC Malaysia aims to create, find and support programmes that directly improve the health and wellbeing of under-privileged children in Malaysia.

In the past 29 years, RMHC Malaysia has positively impacted more than 50,000 children’s lives in the areas of health, education, and welfare — with funding in excess of RM30 million.

The organisation operates four main programmes which are Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Sensory Room, Gift of Smile, and the Back to School Packs.
