SIBU: A retired policeman who defied the ongoing movement control order (MCO) by going fishing in Rajang River was reported missing yesterday.

District police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, who confirmed the incident said 63-year-old Lim Lian Tiong from Jalan Permai Jaya was indeed missing.

“He was fishing with his 29-year-old nephew when their boat went out of control and crashed into a tugboat at 8am near Pulau Li Hua,” he said.

The boat capsized and the men tried to swim to a nearby tugboat. The nephew said that while he was swimming, he looked back and realised that his uncle was nowhere to be seen.

Stanley said the man’s disappearance has been classified as a missing person case.
