Mechanic picked up after rampage spree

Date:

BAU: Police arrested a mechanic who went amok and damaged properties in his parents’ house at Kampung Serasot last Friday (Jan 7).

The incident happened around 10am when the 28-year-old suspect suddenly went on a rampage and damaged the drying rack, plates and bowls.

After that, the suspect cleared the mess and left the house, but not before taking two machetes from the kitchen.

The suspect’s 50-year-old mother who did not suffer any injuries, lodged a report against her son at the police station here.

Bau OCPD DSP Poge Nyaon, who confirmed the case, said a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team arrested the suspect on the same day.

“The suspect also surrendered the machetes to the police. The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing damages through act of mischief,” he said.

Meanwhile, in another case, a 26-year-old man was arrested for stealing his sister-in-law’s motorcycle in Kampung Daun Singai on Dec 13 last year.

Poge said the suspect was arrested on Jan 6 and the motorcycle was recovered.

The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for theft of a motor vehicle.

He said both suspects tested positive for drugs following urine tests at the Bau narcotics office.

“The suspects had admitted to abusing drugs a day before they were arrested. They will be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.
