MELAKA: Melaka recorded a 2-0 win over Kuala Lumpur in the only Super League match at Stadium Hang Jebat, Sunday night pushing the team to the fourth spot in the league table.

Melaka, who played host, began strongly with attempts at goal early in the first and fourth minutes through Anselmo Casagrande, but his attempts were thwarted by the ‘The City Boys’ goalkeeper Mohd Sharbinee Allawee.

The relentless attacks by the squad managed by Zainal Abidin Hassan eventually broke the deadlock in the 14th minute through a header by imported player from Montenegro, Darko Markovic through a cross by Faris Shah Rosli.

Two minutes later, Mohd Nazrin Nawi who made a solo run after receiving a long pass from Casagrande, beat Mohd Sharbinee when his grounder beat the goalkeeper to widen the margin for the Kancil squad.

After the break, Melaka continued their relentless attacks but failed to widen the scoreline which remained at 2-0 until the final whistle. – Bernama
