MIRI: Educational assistance was awarded to 16 children of Miri Melanau Association members, all currently enrolled in various higher learning institutions in Sarawak and West Malaysia.

The distribution ceremony took place today (Nov 26), just before the association’s 5th Triennial General Meeting (TGM).

Sibuti MP Dato Lukanisman Awang Sauni, in his role as the association’s second advisor, officiated at the event and distributed e-kasih assistance to ten recipients.

In his opening speech, Lukanisman urged the members of the association to maintain unity.

“Avoid disunity in our community,” he said.

Also present were the association’s first advisor, Dato Alexander Maiyor, and its president, Cr Abdullah Jaini. Over 100 members participated in the TGM.
