Merdeka Health Walk held in Long Lama

KUCHING: A Merdeka Health Walk was held in conjunction with the National Day 2020 celebration in Long Lama here today (Aug 31).

The walk from Pehin Sri Adenan Satem Long Lama Bridge to Lapok Bridge was jointly organised by Telang Usan District Office and the Long Lama Health Clinic advisory panel.

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, who is also the Marudi assemblyman and Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau officiated at the closing ceremony at SMK Tinjar.

In his speech, Penguang recalled the progress of Baram.   

“However, Baram still needs a lot of development, especially in the interior areas,” he said in his Facebook post today (Aug 31).

“I also wish to announce that the upgrading works on SMK Tinjar and its sports ground worth RM1.2 million will be implemented soon,” he said.

Penguang also congratulated the Merdeka Health Walk organising committee and participants who took part in the walk as early as 4am today.

Also present were Miri Resident Abdul Aziz, Telang Usan District Officer Baru Tai, Marudi District Council chairman Edward Menda and community leaders from Telang Usan and Marudi constituencies.
