KUCHING: The High Commission of Malaysia in London has successfully held the “Merdeka Ride London 2020”.

It was held to mark the country’s 63rd National Day celebration on Aug 31 and Malaysia Day on Sept 16.

In a statement, the High Commission said the fun ride event was aimed at keeping Malaysian spirit alive among fellow Malaysians in the United Kingdom.

Chargé d’affaires ad interim (CDA a.i.) Qairunnisa Md Alias flagged-off the 70 cyclists in front of the High Commission in Belgrave Square in groups of seven.

The 16.5km route took cyclists around some of London’s famous landmarks which ended in Hyde Park. Supreme Fintech sponsored the event.

Riders were treated with Malaysia’s favourite breakfast nasi lemak at the finishing point.

Also present were Supreme Fintech founder and chief executive officer, and Sarawak-born Datuk Seri Utama Muhammad Shafie Abdullah.
