Meth worth RM5k seized, two arrested

MIRI: Police seized methamphetamine worth RM5,050 and arrested two local men following a raid on a house in Kampung Padang Kelulit, Bekenu on Tuesday (Mar 15).

The suspects, aged 25 and 44, were picked up at 7.30pm.

Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari said teams from the Miri and Marudi Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) inspected the house and discovered a transparent plastic packet believed to contained methamphetamine weighing at 50.40 grammes.

The raid was led by ASP Mingat Bakil and Inspector Asreen Mat.

One of the suspects tested positive for the illicit drug.

Both suspects, who have no criminal records, have been remanded for seven days for further investigation.

They are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which provides for the death penalty upon conviction.
