BINTULU: The Jepak by-election saw a voter turnout of just 33 per cent, as of noon today (Nov 4).

Election Commission (EC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh confirmed this when met by reporters at SK Bintulu, one of the 14 polling centres for the by-election.

“The percentage of voter turnout is 33 per cent as of 12pm. This is quite unsatisfactory as it is low (percentage).

“Hence, he urged the people in Jepak constituency to fulfil their civic duty by casting their ballots as there is still time to do so.

“So that, we are able to achieve our target of 65 per cent turnout,” he said.

He pointed out that 11 polling stations would remain open until 5.30pm, except for three stations that will close early at 4pm.

The three stations are SK Kuala Annau, SK Sg Setulan and Tabika Kemas Kuala Segan.
