Minister brings Raya cheer to postnatal ward

KUCHING: Women, Early Childhood and Community Well-being Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah brought cheer to the patients of Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) postnatal ward on Wednesday.

She presented grants of RM450 to 50 mothers and newborn babies while financial aid of RM1,000 were deposited in the accounts of the infants for their future education.

According to her, the visit was in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan being carried out as part of social responsibility for the well-being of the community.

Fatimah said that this year proved to be special because of the activities carried out in the postnatal ward and she hoped that such good cooperation with the hospital would continue.

In addition, she also handed out goodies and duit raya to patients with hopes of easing their burden while celebrating the festival.

Also present during the visit were deputy director of Sarawak General Hospital Dr Lee Yew Fong and Persatuan Kuih Muih dan Masakan Sarawak (PKMMS) chairperson Zaiton Istiar Khan.
