BANGI: Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Hipni recently gave a rundown on the government’spolicies and regulations to promote sustainable industries and how industry leaders can collaborate with policymakers to effect a change.

He was a panellist for the first Malaysian Clean Air International Forum 2023 (MACIF 1.0) programme entitled ‘Sustainable Industries – Mitigation Strategies Towards Blue Skies’ held at the Bangi Avenue Convention Centre (BACC)

Dr Hazland spoke on issues, challenges, and mitigation strategies towards achieving sustainable industries.

“I also talked about what incentives the government can provide to encourage industries to adopt sustainable practices, the potential trade-offs between economic growth and sustainability and how the government balances these competing priorities.

“At the same time, I spoke about how the government can work with industries to create a road map for transitioning to a more sustainable future,” he said in a press statement today.

The forum, managed by MyCAS, a non-governmental organisation registered under the Malaysian Organisations Registration Department (JPPM), was aimed at providing a platform for networking, discussion, and knowledge sharing on issues related to air quality.

MyCAS has also organised the Better Air Quality Conference (BAQ) with more than 700 participants from 50 countries around the world.

For the record, the upcoming 13th Asia Aerosol Conference 2024 will be held in Kuching in August next year.
