KUCHING: Being appointed as the Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Rubiah Wang described her new post indeed as a big responsibility to hold.

Rubiah who is Kota Samarahan MP said special attention needs to be given in efforts to develop rural areas and regions in all aspects such as infrastructure development, increasing economic capacity and social prosperity.

“One of the hopes that I want to realise in taking on the responsibility as deputy minister is to intensify the space and opportunity for the villagers to develop their income and economy whether from the aspect of the productivity of rural products such as agriculture, fishing, handicrafts and others.

“Besides that, I also wish that development projects in rural or urban areas can be empowered such as social amenity projects that provide many benefits to the residents,” she said in a press statement on Saturday.

She also expressed her hopes to empower the role of agencies under the ministry so that these agencies can move proactively in helping the community.

“I will also continue the efforts in maintaining the nation’s economy in my new portfolio.
