Ministry continues support for female entrepreneurs

KUCHING: The Ministry of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development will continue to back initiatives aimed at empowering female entrepreneurs.

Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the collaboration between DeWanita, Miri Branch Sarawak Bumiputra Entrepreneurship Chambers (DUBS) and Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (Angkasa) Sarawak is beneficial in developing the capabilities of women in business.

“What we can see right now, some of them have even become global players, and both parties through various programmes and collaborations, can elevate female entrepreneurs.

“What they are doing is also in line with the aspirations of the Department of Women and Family Sarawak, to develop women’s capabilities and empower them at the same time.

“Also, through various programmes between both parties, it is a strategic one where they can help each other move forward,” she said.

She said this when met by the media after a courtesy call between Angkasa and DeWanita DUBS here on Tuesday (Sept 26).

On another note, Miri DUBS chairman Hafidz Rohani said through the courtesy call, various opportunities and collaboration have been on the map between both of the parties.

“We know that such opportunities have the potential to empower our female entrepreneurs, especially in Miri.

“We are also hoping for further support from the ministry. Fingers crossed, more activities can be held further in Miri, Bekenu and even Niah,” he added.

During the courtesy call, a work proposal were presented for the upcoming Karnival dan Konvensyen Usahawan dan Koperasi Wanita, in conjunction with the Hari Wanita Desa Antarabangsa, that will be organised by Miri Branch DeWanita DUBS and Angkasa in Miri.

Also present during the courtesy call was Deputy Minister Datuk Rosey Yunus and other distinguished guests.
