KUCHING: The National Unity Ministry (KPN) will consider the establishment of more preschools (tabika perpaduan) if there are demands.

National Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique stated this was in line with the ministry’s goal of fostering unity among children of various races in accordance with the unity concept.

“We have to conduct a survey on the needs of parents of various races in a specific location prior to opening such preschools.

“Presently, we have a total of 1,781 unity preschools nationwide,” she said during a press conference at Tabika Semeba on Saturday (Oct 23).

Halimah said the ministry was currently developing an early childhood education plan (2021- 2030) for all preschools nationwide.

She said the plan was crucial as it aimed to instill unity in children from an early age.

Meanwhile, Halimah revealed that the ministry had developed a number of new modules and guidelines targeted to strengthening unity among the students.

The modules are featured in a handbook to serve as guidance for teachers to better facilitate a systematic learning and teaching process similar to other early childhood education institutions.
