MUKAH:  The Ministry of Education (MoE) will decide when the newly completed Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kampung Tellian here could start operating.

At the moment, however, certain facilities at the school are yet to be installed and completed.

A source from the contractor, Bispuri Sdn Bhd said all the buildings had been fully completed except for built-in, loose and laboratory furniture that have not been installed yet.

“The Ministry of Education (MoE) will decide,” the source told New Sarawak Tribune Thursday when asked when the school could be operational.

The source added that landscape and signage jobs were yet to be assigned or awarded to any contractor by the MoE.

It is learned that initially, the school was expected to be operational last April, but this did not materialise due to the ensuing movement control order.

SK Kampung Tellian, located at a new site, was rebuilt at a cost of RM19 million and was completed at the end of 2019.

It is located about 100 metres from the old building on the opposite side of Jalan Tellian in Kampung Seri Tellian (Tellian Tengah).

The old building was declared unfit for occupation by the authorities 16 years ago, and subsequently the school population was asked to move out and ‘squat’ at SK Mukah near the town and has done so until now.
