A total of 25 employees successfully completed the HFMC UNIMAS programme

SAMARAHAN: Twenty-five employees of the Ministry of Health completed the Healthcare Facility Management Certification (HFMC) Programme at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).

A convocation ceremony was held at a local hotel here on Monday (Feb 7).

“The programme was completed by employees who are involved with providing hospital support services in various government hospitals in Sarawak,” the. university said in a statement yesterday (Feb 8).

The HFMC programme is designed to enable healthcare facility managers to run, coordinate and optimise their physical workplace with stakeholders, and develop skills in key competency areas within their role.

“The modules are designed and developed based on current needs of stakeholders, simultaneously adhering to existing standards for certified healthcare facility managers, relevant to both public and private sectors.

“Hence, UNIMAS offers the certification programme as its strategy to fulfil the government’s aspiration to become one of the renowned healthcare centres in the world, and the best health tourism destination in Southeast Asia,” it said.

For the record, UNIMAS’ Faculty of Engineering was given approval by the Advisory Council for International Healthcare Facility Management to conduct the HFMC programme in August 2015.

“After a successful start with One Medicare Sdn Bhd, UNIMAS has also collaborated with UMS Investment Holdings Sdn Bhd (UiNVEST) and Sedafiat Sdn Bhd to further extend the programme in Sabah,” it stated.

The ceremony was graced by UNIMAS Vice Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi.

He also thanked supporting partners, Ministry of Health, UNIMAS Holdings Sdn Bhd, One Medicare Sdn Bhd, UMS Investment Holdings Sdn Bhd, and Sedafiat Sdn Bhd for the strong commitment in spearheading the HFMC programme in Sarawak and Sabah.
