Ministry’s permanent secretary hands over duties

KUCHING: Outgoing Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development permanent secretary, Datuk Kameri Affandi handed over his duties to Husini Bakir, the ministry’s principal assistant secretary (administrative, human resource and finance) on Yesterday (Oct 19).

According to a statement, Husini would be acting permanent secretary until the new permanent secretary reports for duty.

The ceremony was witnessed by minister Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn and other officials.

Kameri has been with the Sarawak civil service since 1987, starting out as an administrative officer at the Ministry of Social Development.

Throughout his career, he has served in various positions, including in the Public Service Commission Sarawak (SPAN), different units of what was then known as the Chief Minister’s Department, Sarawak (JKM); the then Ministry of Planning and Resource Management Sarawak (MPRM), Land Custody and Development Authority, and as permanent secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Sarawak (MYSS); Ministry of International Trade and e-Commerce (MITEC), and Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development, Sarawak (MINTRED).

He also previously served as deputy director of the Sarawak Human Resource Unit, director of the Bumiputera Entrepreneur Development Unit (UPUB JKM) and director of the Sarawak Sports Commission.

In addition, he served as the secretary of the Malaysian Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) Sarawak, as well as numerous other committees within the Sarawak civil service.

He was appointed as the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Research—now known as Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development—in January 2020.
