KUCHING: The coming year will be an eventful year for Malaysians for several reasons, says Datuk Peter Minos.

The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council chairman said whether the 15th general election (GE15) is called this year or next, several unpleasant events, including the 1MDB scandal will see the end of the chapter.

“The year 2023 will also see the end of the COVID-19 pandemic that has brought untold sufferings to Malaysians.

“So 2023 will see a huge portion of the national pains waning and gone,” he said.

He said GE15 will see some national leaders emerging, particularly those who are not hounded by scandals and those who will spend their time and energy developing Malaysia – socially and economically.

“No political party will be too powerful or dominant in 2023 because when they become just like that, they will have the tendency to be arrogant,” he added.

On the judiciary, Minos said Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat has driven home a message that nobody in Malaysia is above the law and those who transgress will be at their own peril.

“I believe 2023 will be a watershed year because it will, at the very least, bring some internal peace and harmony to Malaysians from all political turmoil that had happened over this past few years,” he said.
