MIRI: A 4m-long python was safely removed from the verandah of a house in Kampung Lereng Bukit here on Sunday night (Nov 26).

The alert was raised by a vigilant 75-year-old resident who noticed her chickens clucking incessantly in their pen.

Preferring to remain anonymous, the resident swiftly informed her children, who promptly contacted the Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) for assistance. The APM team arrived at the location around 9.18pm in response to the urgent call for help.

The team took nearly an hour to secure the area and ensure the safety of the residents.

Following their efforts, the python was removed and subsequently released back into its natural habitat.
