MIRI: The city council held a simple ceremony to light up Miri City’s 16th anniversary celebration on Saturday evening.

City mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang posted pictures of the ceremony held in full compliance with the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) in his Facebook on Sunday (May 16).

The event was held in front of MCC’s building at Jalan Kingsway here.

“This set the tone for the celebration we are going to have on May 20 and in light of today’s announcement that the conditional movement control order (CMCO) is now extended to June 7,” Yii said in his Facebook post.

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the anniversary celebration of Miri attaining city status has come and gone for two consecutive years.

Miro attained city status on May 20, 2005.
