MIRI: Members of the Social and Welfare Club Harmony Miri have provided assistance, including school fees, to a total of 119 students from single-parent families.

The club has been actively supporting single mothers in terms of welfare and their children’s education on an annual basis.

Minister for Transport, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin highlighted the pivotal role that associations and organisations play as platforms to address issues and communicate with responsible authorities.

Social and welfare clubs, according to him, have played a significant role for the past 20 years in addressing various concerns among members, ensuring that their welfare is consistently given attention and care.

“I also receive complaints and grievances from single mothers who struggle to afford their children’s school bus fare. However, through this organisation, their problems have been resolved.

“I express my gratitude to the chairman of the Social and Welfare Club Harmony Miri who has contributed school supplies and fees to single-parent families in this area,” he said as per a UKAS report.
