Miri Customs seizes alcoholic drinks in raid

KUCHING: The Customs Department in Miri seized 755.63 litres of alcoholic beverages valued at RM3,314.79 and duties amounting to RM11,808.61 at the Centrepoint Commercial Centre.

The department in a statement today said during the 5pm raid on Monday, its enforcement team found various brands of alcoholic drinks that had yet to be approved.

A suspect was also detained to assist investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 135(1) (a) of Customs Act 1967 for importing prohibited goods without valid permit and Section 135(1)(d) of Customs Act 1967 for possessing forbidden goods/goods yet to be approved by Customs.
