Miri DBNA gets monetary pledges during anniversary dinner

MIRI: A total of RM50,000 was pledged to Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) Miri Branch by several dignitaries attending its 45th anniversary dinner recently.

During the event also, IBS College allocated a RM50,000 education scholarship to the association to be awarded to 10 outstanding Bidayuh students.

The scholarship was presented by the principal and chief executive officer of IBS College, Dr Lau Pun Lee.

The association also presented education awards to 13 Bidayuh students who excelled in their SPM and STPM public exams from 2019 to 2020.

Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn was invited as the guest of honour.

He applauded Miri DBNA for being one of the most active DBNA branches in the state.

At the event, he pledged a total of RM30,000 to the association while Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting gave RM10,000, including RM5,000 each from Deputy Minister for Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development Martin Ben and Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada.

Miri DBNA also hosted a charity golf which was teed off by Dr Simon at Kelab Golf Miri on the same day.

About 95 golfers registered for the tournament. Among those present at the event included Deputy State Secretary Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik, who is also the president of DBNA.
