MIRI: Police here together with Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) personnel last Thursday cut the electricity supply to 32 premises in six areas within the district, believed to be sites of illegal activities, particularly illegal online gambling.

According to Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, the joint operation would continue to stamp out illegal online gambling activities in the district.

On Thursday, the team went to areas in Batu Niah, Lambir, Taman Tunku, Luak, Bandar Baru Permyjaya and Senadin.

He said the power cut was made under Section 21A(1) of the Gaming Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.

“We will continue to monitor the premises that had their power cut.”
