MIRI: Miri General Operations Force (GOF) 12th Battalion on Monday (Aug 16) received additional assets in the forms of two all-terrain vehicles and two scrambler bikes to enhance and strengthen their border control operations at Long Banga in Ulu Baram.

Presenting the additional assets worth RM86,400 was Minister of Transport Datuk Lee Kim Shin on behalf of the state government to GOF 12th Battalion commanding officer Supt Uchong Sigan at the Sarawak Islamic Complex Miri compound.

Uchong, when met later after presentation, thanked the Sarawak government for the contribution.

He said with the additional assets, it will help to facilitate their monitoring work as well as accelerate mobility in border areas that are difficult to access.

“Long Banga is located close to the international border between Kalimantan and Sarawak and by placing these assets at our control post, our men can perform their duties better and more efficiently,” he said.
