MIRI: Mailman and courier personnel at the Pos Malaysia’s mail centre were given a total of 1,000 face masks from Dewan Negara senator Alan Ling.

Ling who is also Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak was accompanied by Hungry Food Delivery platform Miri representative Ting Kung Ping to present the donation yesterday. Present to receive the face masks was mail centre manager Jem Kwan

“I am glad we can contribute some face masks to our unsung heroes who have worked tirelessly in carrying out their daily tasks.

“I hope these face masks will benefit over 70 personel in the mail centre, especially our delivery heroes, the postmen who are among those who face high risks of the Covid-19 outbreak,” Ling said in a statement yesterday.

He pointed out the mail staff have been working non-stop even during the movement control order (MCO) due to their roles as essential service providers.

“Most importantly they have to continue to play an important role to ensure that the online platforms are delivered to them,” he said.

Ting, in the same statement drew similarities of the jobs of food delivery riders to mailman – both delivering items to the doorsteps of their recipients.

“Thus, I feel that is extremely meaningful to chip in and have the joint donation,” he said.
