MIRI: Miri mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Pujut assemblyman in a social media post said he received his PCR test result on Wednesday (March 9) and advised those who have come into close contact with him to do their RTK self-test and the PCR test as well.

“Given the three to five days incubation period, it would be possible that I contracted the COVID-19 virus sometime on Thursday or Friday last week. In the interim period, I had attended both official and private functions, breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

“Therefore, it would be wise for anyone coming into close contact with me to get themselves tested. I wish to apologise for the inconvenience caused,” he said today.

Yii was feeling unwell for the past few days but assured that he was starting to feel much better now.

“The only symptoms I am having now is a slight cough, no headache or muscle ache. My appetite is as good as ever so all in all, nothing to worry about.

“I am still waiting for the instruction on self-quarantine through MySejahtera as advised to me. In the meantime, I have to apologise for cancelling or postponing all events and appointments until I am released from the quarantine requirements,” he said.

He reminded all to take care and stay safe in view of the surging COVID-19 or Omicron cases.
