Miri names landscape contest winners

MIRI: Winners of the Beautiful Landscape competition organised by the Miri City Council (MCC) were announced on Tuesday (Jan 18).

The competition held on Nov 30 last year involved six categories, namely, traditional house/kampung; bungalow; terrace house; primary school; secondary school and house of worship.

In the primary school category, SJK (C) Chung Hua Krokop emerged the winner  to take home RM2,000, followed by SJK (C) Chung Hua Pujut Miri and SK Kuala Baram.

In the secondary school category, the honour went to SMK Merbau(RM2,000) followed by SMK Riam and SMK Baru Miri.

In the house of worship category, St. Dominic and the Rosary Church in Taman Tunku was handed RM2,000 after being named the winner.

Second placed went to St Columba’s Parish Miri followed by BEM Pujut 3 Bahasa Kayan Miri.

In the traditional house /kampung category, Amy Lagang of Jalan Pujut Padang Kerbau bagged RM1,000 after she was named the champion , followed by Mahani Drahman Leong and Mohamed Yusop Drahman Leong.

Meanwhile, Molly Cher  was announced champion in the bungalow category and won RM1,000 followed by Rajina Juny and Kusaini Hamdan.

In the terrace house category, first place went to Chong Chi Lan (RM1,000) followed by Maria Lagan and Chien Kai Wei.

Each winners from six categories also received a thropy and certificate of appreciation.

All prizes were presented by Miri Mayor Adam Yii and witnessed by the competition organising chairlady Warzieda Ahmad at city hall.
