MIRI: Miri Division has been declared a green zone after not recording any new Covid-19 cases for the past 14 days since April 24.

This was announced yesterday by Minister-in-charge of Miri Division Disaster Management Committee, Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who is also state Transport Minister.

“Miri has become a green zone as of May 9,” Lee said.

Currently there are three Covid-19 positive cases still under strict observation at Miri Hospital. Two of these cases are locals and one case is from Limbang.

According to Lee, all of them are stable without complications.

“Miri Disaster Committee thanked all the frontlines, relevant agencies and the community for cooperation and strong teamwork shown during the movement control order (MCO) period,” he said, adding that well-coordinated control and preventive measures had contributed to make Miri a green zone.

However, Lee reminded Miri the people not to allow the green zone status to make them complacent.

“Good public cooperation is required to keep Miri safe and free from Covid-19,” he said.

Miri Disaster Management Committee has reminded everyone to be vigilant and continue practising the general precautionary measures as advised by the Ministry of Health and Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
