MIRI: The upgrading works for the Miri Gurdwara Sahib Sikh Temple at Jalan Kubu here is expected to be completed in early April this year in time for the Vaisakhi celebration.

Project director cum treasurer Gurvir Singh Sandhu disclosed this when met on Wednesday morning after accompanying Assistant Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts I (Tourism) Datuk Sebastian Ting and Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) director Richard Lon to visit the site and inspect upgrading works involving the construction of new kitchen hall and dining rooms.

“Currently, the upgrading works are progressing well, with 75 per cent of the construction works being completed so far,” he said.

“We hope that the construction works can be completed early April before the Vaisakhi celebration on April 14 this year, as they are planning to do the grand opening on that day,” he said.

However, the temple needed additional funding worth RM1 million for the construction of its façade, including to further upgrade the building.
