BAKUN: The body of a man, who was reported to have fallen into a river in Ulu Naha Nyabong, Bakun, was discovered around 9.40pm yesterday.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre in a statement, the villagers found Heli Nyalong’s body floating around 5m from where he was reported to have gone missing on Tuesday.

The 36-year-old from Block P, Uma Bakah, Sungai Asap, Belaga had his identification confirmed by the locals as well.

“The operation commander called to inform us that the victim’s body had been discovered around 11.30pm yesterday.

“As the operation was conducted at night, they transported the deceased to his longhouse before being taken to Bintulu Hospital for a post-mortem,” it said, adding the operation ended at 11.35pm.

The location where Heli went missing is around a four-hour boat ride from Bakun jetty.

There is also no telecommunications coverage at the scene.
