The boy’s body was recovered by villagers on Tuesday (Aug 3) morning.

MARUDI: A four-year-old boy who has been missing since Monday evening in Kampung Long Banyok, Ulu Baram, was found dead on Tuesday (August 3).

The body was discovered by villagers this morning at the riverbank, not far from the location he was last seen at.

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue (Bomba) department operations centre, the body has been handed over to the deceased’s family.

A search and rescue (SAR) operation was mounted on Tuesday (Aug 3) for the boy following a report lodged by his father after he noticed his son’s disappearance around 4pm on Monday.

Four firemen from Marudi fire station were deployed to the scene around 7am today (Aug 3), which took about two to three hours via boat from Marudi, to help locate the boy identified as Vincent Laing.

The father, together with other villagers in Kampung Long Banyok, began to search for the boy along the nearby riverbank and jungle but to no avail.

They later called Marudi Bomba for assistance around 2.10am today (Aug 3).
