MIRI: A senior citizen who went missing last Saturday (Sept 19) was found dead in a bush at Jalan Padang Kerbau here by a search-and-rescue (SAR) team on Sunday (Sept 20).

According to Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 6 chief Supt Law Poh Kiong, the deceased, identified as Razanee Tali, 70, was found lying motionless about 200km from the SAR operations centre, which was set up at the area.

“The body was found by the police K9 (dog) unit and Bomba at 11.10am,” Law said.

Last Saturday (Sept 19) morning, Razanee had gone into a nearby bush to look for jungle produce and never came back home, prompting his 45-year-old son to lodge a missing person’s report at Miri Central Police Station (CPS).

According to the son, it has been his father’s morning routine to go into the bush in the morning and come back before afternoon.

The body has been handed over to the police for further action.
