TANJUNG MANIS: A search and rescue (SAR) operation has been activated after a 25-year-old man was reported missing after he allegedly fell into the sea on Sunday (Nov 21).

As at press time, the victim known as Boy, is yet to be found after he was reported missing around 4am, at about 8.5 nautical miles northwest of Tanjung Mamat.

A spokesman from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Sarawak said they received the information from Belawai police and activated the search operation at 5.30pm on the same day.

It was made to understand that the victim is a crewmate of a SF2-2080 fishing vessel.

The victim is believed to have fallen around 8pm on Saturday evening (Nov 20) as one of the crew members saw him carrying a buoy to the back of the vessel.

It was around 4am later that they realised the victim was nowhere to be found when they were about to start their fishing operation.
