KUCHING: A man who went fishing with his relatives on Tuesday morning was still missing at press time yesterday, said Lundu police chief DSP Wong Chee Keong.

Joseph Basir, 68, reportedly failed to return home after both his two relatives were back in their Kampung Gerunggang, Lundu. The trio had gone fishing in Sungai Stuggang earlier.

According the victim’s daughter, her father did not go back with the two relatives who were said to arrive home 4pm Tuesday.
After a police report was lodged, villagers, police and firemen teamed up for a search operation but failed to find the missing person.
The distance to the missing area from the victim’s house is 3 kilometres on foot. At 11.30pm Tuesday, firemen called off the search. Search continued on the next morning (yesterday).
