BINTULU: A local man feared missing when he failed to return to his boat after gathering palm oil fruits has been found safe and sound.

The 55-year-old and his friend had gone to a palm oil plantation near Sungai Kelalong, Mile 13, Jalan Bintulu-Miri, by boat to collect the fruits yesterday (Mar 14).

However, when it was time to leave, the man refused and insisted on finding and collecting more palm oil fruits.

The friend became worried for the victim after he did not return to the boat and a police report was lodged.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from the Bintulu fire station were deployed to the scene after they were alerted around 2.20 pm.

When the team along with the Belaga police and Civil Defence Force (APM) were en route to Rh Nyalun to start the search, they came across the man and found him safe and sound.
