LUNDU: Two runners who went missing during the Sarawak Adventure Challenge at Salca Bajo Training centre have been found safe and sound.

A state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) spokesperson said the department received a distress call at 10.53am from one of the victims indicating that they had strayed away from the Sarawak Adventure Challenge race track.

The victim was asking for assistance to locate them.

A team of firefighters from the Lundu fire station were deployed to the scene.

Firefighters tried contacting the victims but to no avail which prompted a search and rescue (SAR) operation to be activated.

Two senior fire officers, who headed the operation, were participants of the event and had finished the race.

This probably made their search easier because they were familiar with the track.

Both victims, a male and a female, were found safe at 1.50pm and the operation ended at 2pm.
