LIMBANG: The body of a missing septuagenarian, who failed to return home from catching fish near Rh Sing Kerangan, Ulu Medamit since Wednesday (Nov 22), has been found on Saturday (Nov 25).

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the body of Jampi Ugai, 76, was spotted by the locals in the river near Rh Tanah Merah, Medamit around 2 pm.

Rescuers were rushed to the scene for retrieval and the body was then taken to a jetty at Jalan Medamit to be handed over to the police.

Following the discovery, the search and rescue (SAR) operation concluded at 2.20 pm.

Jampi was reported missing on Thursday (Nov 23) by his family when he failed to return home after going out to catch fish in the river the day before.

Firemen from Limbang station along with the police later initiated a search operation to locate the victim.

Rescuers and locals retrieve the victim’s body from the river.
