KOTA SAMARAHAN: Serba Dinamik Group Bhd is determined to create more creative and innovative technology entrepreneurs.
Its chairman Datuk Abdul Kadier Sahib said the establishment of D-Virtual Park was part of the strategy by SDHB in supporting Sarawak’s digital economy agenda.
“The launching ceremony of this VR theme park is a historical moment for us, that will help to transform the digitisation of Sarawak, and the realisation of the digital economy agenda to shape society in line with the Industrial Revolution 4.0 today,” he said in his opening address at the launching ceremony here on Monday (Oct 12).
Abdul Kadier said Kota Samarahan was chosen as the location to build the RM13 million VR park to provide opportunities among local entrepreneurs to further bridge the digital divide between communities.
“With the first rotating globe, right at the front of this building, we hope Kota Samarahan, the digital city surrounded by educational institutions, will be able to attract 500,000 visitors within the first year of its opening.”
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic that led to many challenges, he said the pandemic had shifted people’s mindset, especially senior citizens and those reluctant to adopt technology and digital applications, to adapt to using smartphones and shopping online.
“We are also introducing the D-Tamu — a digital tamu marketplace.
“This is part of our strategy to develop communities in rural area to utilise technology that will benefit their economic growth.
“Here (the VR park) … we have creative studio and lab facilities for start-ups where they can be connected to three other research facility centres in the world, namely the Indian Institute of Technology Madras; Stanford University, California, and Shenzhen Open Innovation Lab.”
