The oil tanker carrying 15,000 litres of diesel is detained.

MIRI: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) detained an oil tanker carrying some 15,000 litres of diesel about eight nautical miles West of Kuala Niah on Saturday.

MMEA Miri director Captain Md Fauzi Othman said the vessel had failed to produce port clearance pass upon inspection. Also detained were three local crew members aged between 17 and 43 years.

All crew members and the vessel were escorted to MMEA Miri Vessel Detention Centre Jetty for further investigation.

Md Fauzi said the case would be investigated under the Customs Act 1967.
