MIRI: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) open day yesterday at Marina Jetty here attracted huge crowds.

The event, held in conjunction with MMEA’s 15th anniversary, allowed visitors to catch a glimpse of what the agency was doing.

During the event, the public also had the chance to tour one of the MMEA’s vessels anchored at the jetty.

A boat ride was also provided to the visitors.

For the boat ride, children aged nine years old and above were allowed but must be accompanied by adults.

One of the visitors, Darmia Hidayah, said her five-year-old son was very excited to visit the vessel.

“We came early this morning because he wanted to see the vessel. He wanted to go on the boat ride, but because he’s under nine years old, they did not allow him,” she said.

Another visitor, who wished to be known only as Susan, looked forward to touring the vessel.

“I hope MMEA will have its open day often,” she said.
