MMEA wins PUBG mobile contest

KUCHING: Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) emerged as winner for the Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) mobile competition.

The contest was held in conjunction with Sarawak Civil Service Innovation Week 2020, said a press release.

The team from Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) came in second place followed by the Malaysian Royal Police (PDRM) in third place. Each winning team received respective cash prize and certificate of participation.

The competition was jointly organised by Sarawak Youth and Sports Department (JBSN Sarawak) together with Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu) as well as the Sarawak Federal Secretary’s Office.

A total of 17 teams from the federal and state departments as well as agencies participated in the competition which was held at Kompleks Belia dan Sukan Negeri Sarawak on Monday (October 5), the statement added.

The Sarawak federal secretary Mohd Shahabuddin Omar said that this competition could help to foster team spirit and better communication among the players.

“This competition creates good team spirit as it requires strategic planning and good communication as well as interaction among players. Besides that, players must be able to think on their feet and make prompt decisions in order to achieve the mission and win the game,” he said.

In line with the theme of the celebration, “Innovation for Service Delivery Excellence”, Shahabuddin said innovation and creativity had always been the backbone for civil servants in discharging their duties to members of the public.

“It is important for civil servants to be innovative and creative in improving their work performance, quality and productivity. They are the catalysts in creating new opportunities and identifying room for improvements when it comes to effective as well as quality delivery of service,” he explained.

Also present was the director of JBSN Sarawak Azura Sarbin and state director of Mampu Banges Munga.
