SRI AMAN: The Mobile Community Services (Mobile CS) programme, involving 22 government agencies from the federal as well as the state government was held at Dataran Terubok Lingga on Saturday (March 12).

Organised by the State Treasury it is aimed at channelling information on the roles and services of the agencies as well as fielding questions from the ground.

According to the finance assistant officer of Sarawak Federal Treasury Bridget Ivon Albert, as many as 1,000 residents of Lingga are expected to attend the programme.

Malay Temenggong of Sri Aman Mohammad Shah Achang

One of the visitors, Malay Temenggong of Sri Aman Mohammad Shah Achang, 63, said the programme was welcome as it helps residents of Lingga to receive the best services directly from government agencies.

Another said that the Mobile CS should be held once every six months so that the rural populace especially the people of Lingga are not left behind in terms of government information.

Chief of Kampung Hilir Lingga Mohd Taha Tongkol

Meanwhile, Kampung Hilir Lingga chief Mohd Taha Tongkol, 69, said it is very useful to the residents of Lingga especially those who have inquires as they can can seek answers one-on-one.

He hoped the people would use this opportunity to meet related government agencies and subsequently be able to know about facilities provided by them.

Also present were Lingga Assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor accompanied by Sri Aman district officer Asri Wee and federal finance officer of Sarawak Federal Treasury Leonard Wilfred Yussin.
