The MDDM Mobile Library

MUKAH: Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM) Mobile Library service has yet to resume operations pending a decision by the authorities amid the Covid-19 pandemic scare.

A staff of the MDDM Public Library said the service was suspended since last March following the implementation of the movement control order (MCO).

“We are still waiting for the decision from the authorities as to when we could resume our service” she told New Sarawak Tribune on Monday (Oct 5).

The staff is one of the two women manning the MDDM Mobile Library, alongside their driver.

According to her, the mobile library served primary schools in semi-rural and rural areas here, and in Dalat and Balingian, including schools at Jalan Mukah-Selangau.

She added that during the suspension of the mobile service, there were also schools which took the initiative to assist pupils in returning the library books.

MDDM used a specially-modified vehicle in providing its mobile library service to primary school readers.
