Moderate earthquake jolts Sumbawa, Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter Scale was reported to have struck south of Sumbawa Island in Indonesia today.

According to a statement issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the 6.31am quake was centred at about 356 kilometres south of Bima, Indonesia.

The earthquake, at a depth of 23km, however, did not pose any threat of a tsunami to Malaysia, the statement said. – Bernama
